Cheap Baby Bedding …Safety First!
Cheap Baby Bedding or any baby bedding is cute and sweet but there are things you must know before you use it. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission strongly makes these recommendations to keep your baby safe.
You can check it out at www.CPSC.gov. They also list recalls. Soft crib bedding of any kind should not be under or on top of the baby. If the baby rolls over, the bedding can become molded around its face. Remove pillows, quilts, comforters and sheepskins from the crib. Secure bumper pads around the entire bed and snap or tie them securely in place. Only a crib sheet and bumper pads should be used. Baby sheets are required to have a warning label that says “Prevent suffocation or entanglement, never use crib sheets that don’t fit securely on crib mattress.” That is an industry standard that is required. Never use baby sheets that don’t fit securely on crib mattresses. They must overlap the mattress so they can’t come dislodged when pulled on. Never use an adult sheet. If you do use a blanket put the infant with its feet at the foot of the crib. Tuck a thin blanket around the mattress only as far as the baby’s chest. Crib bedding may come as a gift. If you do get a set, use the sheets and bumper and use the rest as a cute decoration distributed around the room. If you are buying it yourself, you only have to buy baby sheets and a bumper. That saves you money right there.
